Chicagoland’s Labor Day Running Tradition

Make The Oak Brook Half-Marathon part of your Labor Day weekend. A perfect, central metro-Chicago location, an outstanding, challenging course, well-staffed aid stations, amazing volunteer support, custom finisher’s medals, plus – awards 3-deep in standard CARA age groups and a full-slate of CARA Clydesdale Divisions, the in latest timing technology – the ChronoTrack “B-tag”, and awesome technical running tops in both women’s and men’s sizes, make this CARA “Long-Distance Series” Race a “must-do” event onyour racing schedule. Registration is limited to 1,500 – so don’t miss out!

DATE AND TIME

The 2016 Oak Brook Half-Marathon will be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2016. Start Time: 7:00 AM sharp.

LOCATION

The Half-Marathon starts on Kensington Road west of Jorie Blvd, and finishes in Oak Brook’s beautiful, wooded Central Park. Kensington Road is located between 22nd St. and 31st St./Oak Brook Road. With easy access from all major Chicagoland expressways, the race site is just minutes away from I-88, I-294, I-290 and Route 83. Free and ample parking will be available for race participants immediately north of the Starting Line, at the Ace Hardware corporate parking lot and at The Crossings office complex parking lot.

THE COURSE

The course is a strategic combination of city streets, bike trails, and forest preserve paths, with rolling hills throughout. It begins on wide city streets before heading into the Oak Brook Sports Core, and connecting to the asphalt-surfaced Oak Brook Bike/Running Path System in the McDonalds Corporate Campus. After 6 1/2 miles of scenic paths, the course enters Fullersburg Woods for 3 shaded miles of crushed limestone trails and challenging hills. Exiting the Woods, the course merges back onto the path, circling the perimeter of the Oak Brook Golf Club, and finishing up in Oak Brook’s wooded Central Park.

First Place Male and Female Overall Finishers:
Prize Package of Cash and/or Merchandise valued at $200
A beautiful one-of-a-kind Oak Brook Half-Marathon trophy

Second Place Male and Female Over Finishers:
Prize Package of Cash and/or Merchandise valued at $175
A beautiful one-of-a-kind Oak Brook Half-Marathon trophy

Third Place Male and Female Overall Finishers:
Prize Package of Cash and/or Merchandise valued at $150
A beautiful one-of-a-kind Oak Brook Half-Marathon trophy

Top 3 Winners in standard CARA age group categories will receive custom awards

The Clydesdale Division will also feature awards to top 3 in both Men’s and Women’s A, B & C weight classes (see CARA website for weight breaks) for both OPEN and MASTERS Divisions

All Finishers will receive an impressive, custom-designed Oak Brook Half-Marathon medal.
